I didn’t have time to think about it for long. His fingers were sliding over my folds, opening me to his intimate touch. The night of grinding against his hard body had left me wet and aching. The touch of his fingertip was almost too much. I groaned, my hands fisting in the blanket as he slid one finger inside my body.
“Oh shit, you’re so fucking wet.” He hissed.
I moaned again, demanding my body to slow down. The reaction to his finger inside me was a little embarrassing. I could feel my body squeezing him, soaking him with my desire. His finger moved, in and out, sliding over my clit and sending shots of liquid heat through my body.
“Oh fuck!” I cried out as my body began to spasm. The orgasm that had been building all night erupted and there was nothing I could do to stop it. Hell, there was nothing I wanted to do. I closed my eyes and relished in the sensations spiraling through my body.
“I have to know.” He groaned the words.
He reached his hands to my waist and slid me up the bed, crawling over me and guiding himself to my core. I felt the head probing at my entrance. My eyes popped open as I looked up at his face. I felt the tip push in, stretching my body. It had been a long time since I’d been with a man. Things were tight.
“Mason.” I breathed his name.
He pushed in a little more. My body was opening for him, stretching around him, squeezing and pulling him inside me. His arms were shaking as he held himself over me. The restraint he showed was a ridiculous turn-on. I reached up, gripping his biceps, feeling the power humming through him.
I arched, pushing my hips up and taking him in deeper. He clenched his teeth, closing his eyes and inhaling through his nose. I could feel him holding back, fighting the urge to plunge inside me. Slowly, he pushed in deeper. I felt impossibly full, like I could take no more when he moved against me, proving me wrong.
His eyes opened, staring into mine. Neither of us moved for several seconds. It was as if he just realized who he was fucking. I had the same startling realization. I forgot about who he was and focused on what he was doing to my body. It felt too good.
He moved his hips, pulling a gasp from my lips. I slid my hands up and down his arms, amazed at how strong he was. He was the total package. His body began moving, slow and steady at first until he was rocking against me hard and fast, my breasts bouncing up and down, the bra doing nothing to hold them steady. I heard myself squeaking and gasping with every thrust. I was lost in some crazy otherworld where everything was pure pleasure. Every stroke of him inside my body sent me into a spiral of pleasure that made me dizzy with need.
“More.” I groaned, reaching around to grab a handful of his ass. I squeezed tight, digging my nails into his flesh.
He roared, his body plunging deeper inside mine. I was ready to explode again. I slapped my hand against his ass before squeezing hard again.
“Goddamn it.” He groaned, his body moving fast in and out of mine.
I looked up once, the pure determination on his face excited me even more. I reached around with my other hand, scouring his back with my nails. He shouted, cursing a blue streak as he fucked me harder. I was close, so close.
“More! Harder,” I screamed, feeling like a completely different woman with him.
“Fuck!” he cried out when I squeezed his ass in my hands, yanking him deeper inside me.
My body erupted, stars flashing in front of my eyes as I felt myself gush over his hard shaft buried inside me. His body had gone stiff, then he jerked several times, a groan escaping his lips. He almost sounded like he was in pain as he exploded inside my body. I opened my eyes, finding his eyes closed and his head back. I smiled as I floated back down to earth with Mason Bancroft between my legs. It was not a sight I had ever imagined I would see.
Chapter 11
Mason
Something unfamiliar pulled me from the deep sleep I had fallen into. I blinked several times, cursing myself for not pulling the blinds closed. My eyes opened and I was instantly reminded I wasn’t in my room. I was in Adelaide’s bed. I rubbed my burning eyes before turning my head to look for a clock. I blinked several times, trying to bring the red numbers into focus.
“Well shit,” I muttered, realizing why my eyes were burning. It was six in the morning. The only time I ever saw six was if I was rolling home after a night out. I never got out of bed that early. I heard a sound and turned my head to the closed door that was slowly being pushed open. It was Adelaide. There was a towel around her head, and she was wearing an old, faded purple robe.
I didn’t say anything. She didn’t bother looking at the bed. I watched her move to her closet, then pulled out a white shirt on a hanger with black slacks neatly folded underneath. She put it on the chair in front of her vanity before opening the top drawer of her dresser. I watched as she rummaged around before dropping the robe. I silently hissed at the sight of her perfect, round ass, the sexy curve of her back, and her legs that were perfectly shaped. She slid on a purple thong before deftly putting on a bra without ever turning around. I was a little bummed I wasn’t going to get a full frontal in the morning light, but I could live with the little peek I did get.
She pulled on the slacks and then slipped on the shirt, buttoning it up before sitting down in the chair and unwrapped the towel from her head. She snagged her hairbrush and moved it through her wet hair before spraying mousse in her hand, grabbing chunks of her hair to rub it in. I watched with rapt attention as she went through the process of putting on makeup before snatching a bottle and spritzing her neck and wrists. I inhaled, smelling that familiar scent from last night.
It was sending my body into overdrive; my typical morning wood was rising to the occasion. When she stood up, smoothing the slacks as she turned, I smiled at her. “Morning,” I said.
She yelped and jumped backward. “You scared me!” she said, glaring at me.
“Sorry,” I said with a cheeky grin.
“How long have you been awake?” she asked, narrowing her gaze at me.
I shrugged. “Probably about the time you dropped that godawful robe.”
“You asshole. You could have told me you were awake,” she snapped, sitting back down and pulling on a pair of socks.
She was clearly back to the old Adelaide mode. I stepped into the proverbial ring with her once again. “That would have ruined all my fun.”
“You watched me get dressed?” she said, refusing to look at me.
“I did.”
“Asshole,” she grumbled under her breath.
I couldn’t help but laugh. “No man in his right mind would have not watched. That was hot. Want to come over here and see just how hot that was?” I asked her.
She got to her feet, glaring at me. “I have to go to work. I’m leaving in thirty minutes and I’m not leaving you in here. Get up,” she said, stomping toward the door.
I rolled to my side, going up on one elbow to watch her. “Your room is very girly,” I told her, taking in the pale purple on the walls with lots of soft touches around the room that made it feel very feminine.
There was a large, framed picture of a woman in a meadow, as well as lots of pastel colors hanging on one wall. The dresser was white along with the matching vanity she had been sitting at. It all felt very soft and nothing like the woman I knew. The bed had been adorned with several pink and purple pillows and the bedspread was a lavender with lots of tiny white flowers printed all over.
“I am a girl,” she spat, walking out of the room.
“Oh, I know that, but I think I would prefer if we referred to you as a woman,” I shouted so she could hear me.
She returned a few seconds later, one shoe on, the other in her hand. She used it to point at me. “Get up. I have to go.”
I threw off the blankets, revealing my nudity and watching her eyes go wide, a blush covering her cheeks before she spun around and walked away again. I flopped back on the bed and burst into laughter. I loved teasing her. She made it too easy.
I was
still lying there alfresco when she reappeared in the doorway. “Get. Up.”
I grinned, looking down the length of my body. “Look again, princess. I’m already up.”
She growled. “God, you are so annoying. Get your ass out of my bed!”
“You’re not being very nice,” I pointed out.
“I don’t have to be nice. You do have to get out,” she snapped.
“You’re not going to offer me some coffee or a piece of toast? Nothing?” I asked, having a little fun teasing her.
“No.”
“Adelaide, what’s going on?” I asked, taking a more serious approach as I sat up.
“Nothing.”
“Something changed.”
She wouldn’t look at me. I figured it was my nudity that was throwing her off. I grabbed the blanket and pulled it over myself. “I’m covered,” I told her.
She finally turned to face me. “Nothing has changed.”
“Adelaide,” I said her name, liking the way it felt on my tongue.
“Mason, last night was a mistake, okay?” she blurted out, looking me in the eyes.
“A mistake? It didn’t feel like a mistake to me,” I said nonchalantly.
She let out a long breath, looking up at the ceiling. “It was a mistake. Don’t let it go to your head. We drank, we danced, we had sex. That’s it. That’s all it was. Don’t pretend you don’t do that kind of thing all the time.”
“I don’t.”
That seemed to take her by surprise. “Oh. Well, neither do I. Last night, I was…” She shook her head.
“You were…?”
“Nothing,” she muttered.
I knew she hadn’t been drunk. I didn’t want her walking out of that room with the idea she could chalk up what happened between us to her being drunk. I did not take advantage of her. “You were what?” I repeated, wanting a straight answer.
“I had a lot to drink,” she said, not meeting my eyes.
I shook my head. “Uh-uh, don’t even try to use that as an excuse. You weren’t drunk. You are not going to blame me for taking advantage of you or some shit.” I hissed.
Dalton would kick my ass if he ever found out. I was not that kind of a man, no matter what she thought of me.
“No, I wasn’t drunk. I was lonely,” she confessed in a quiet voice.
“You were lonely?” I repeated.
“Yes. That was it. It’d been a while and I wanted to have a little fun. It was no big deal. It is never going to happen again,” she said, looking down at the floor.
“It was fun, but I don’t think we have to commit to it never happening again,” I said easily.
She bent over and picked up my underwear, tossing them at me. “Get dressed and get out.”
I laughed as she walked out the door. She was a cranky woman. I wanted to believe it was a lack of sleep and the early hour. I quickly pulled on my underwear and walked out of the room to find the rest of my clothes. I got a good look at her tiny apartment. It was small, quaint, and not overly tidy. I liked that. I liked knowing she wasn’t totally perfect.
She was pretending to be studying her phone, but I could feel her eyes on me. I put on my jeans before finding my shirt and pulling it on. I grabbed my boots and moved to sit on her couch, almost expecting her to shout at me to stay off the furniture. I laced up my boots before getting to my feet and running my hands over my hair, pushing it out of my face.
“Adelaide,” I said her name, hoping we could have a decent conversation.
She shook her head. “Don’t.”
I sighed, knowing she was a stubborn woman. “For what it’s worth, I had a good time last night, and I’m not talking about just the sex.”
She looked up at me and I could read the regret on her face. That stung a little. “It was fun, but it can’t happen again. You and I are not friends.”
“But we could be. I think we proved that last night,” I pointed out.
“No, that was sex. That was two people who needed to get laid,” she snapped.
I grinned. “You needed to get laid. I was just fine going home alone.”
Her cheeks turned red again. “See, that’s why we can’t be friends.”
“Why?”
“Because you’re rude.”
I shrugged a shoulder. “I was only pointing out the facts. You’re the one who said the only reason I was given the green light to breach your ivory tower was because you were lonely. Isn’t that code for horny? You wanted to get laid. I was willing and available, right?”
“It wasn’t like that,” she said softly.
“You didn’t use me to get your rocks off?” I said, not even caring if I pissed her off.
She groaned. “Really? That’s how you’re going to put it?”
“How should I put it? What is the proper way for me to say you needed to get off and obviously your vibrator or whatever it is you normally use was out of commission? Or was it you wanted the real thing? Were you craving some action? Did you choose me to give you what you wanted because I was the only man in there that could satisfy you?” I asked, stepping toward her, crowding her personal space.
“You’re assuming you satisfied me,” she spat.
It was a weak comeback and we both knew it. I smiled, reaching out my finger to trace over her jaw. “Baby, you were very satisfied. I can still smell you on me, clinging to my skin. You were screaming in pleasure,” I whispered before pulling my hand away and walking out the door.
I had seen the way she shuddered when I reminded her of just how satisfied she had been. I knew she’d enjoyed it. I had never felt a woman get that much pleasure. It had been heady and given me one of the best orgasms I could remember. Adelaide wasn’t the cold fish she pretended to be. I had broken through the ice and found a hot, sensuous woman waiting on the other side.
I walked down the stairs and opened the door to let myself onto the sidewalk. It was going to be hard not to think about her. I would be craving her again and again. I was already fighting the urge to go back up there and show her just how much pleasure I could bring her. We’d barely scratched the surface. She was a woman who would have multiple orgasms under my skilled hands. I was tempted to prove it to her.
I hopped in a cab, heading back to the restaurant to pick up my bike. I allowed my eyes to drift close as I replayed the moment I had gotten to dive into her sweetness. If I wasn’t careful, I was going to embarrass myself in the back of the cab. It was a vivid memory, capable of producing an explosive reaction.
Chapter 12
Adelaide
“Thank God,” I mumbled once Mason was out of my apartment. It felt so much smaller with him in it. I was having some serious morning after regrets and looking at him, lying in my bed, looking sexy as hell, wasn’t helping.
He had been tempting—way too tempting. Seeing him in the bright light of day had been difficult. Not difficult. That wasn’t right. It had been hard not to look. Last night, there was very little light, but this morning, his chest and arms and all his other parts had been on grand display. I wanted to stare but refused to let him see how much he affected me. It took me a few seconds to regain my composure once he had left. I walked into my bedroom, saw the messy bed and walked right back out. I didn’t want to deal with that just then. I stalled, waiting a few more minutes before leaving the apartment. I didn’t want to run into him outside. That would only extend the awkwardness.
I unlocked the front door of the coffee shop, stepping inside and then closed and locked the door behind me before going behind the counter to punch in my security code for the alarm. I turned on the lights behind the bar and let out a long sigh. The first thing I was going to do was make myself a fresh pot of coffee and start downing it. I was dead tired. My eyes were puffy and gritty, and I wasn’t really looking forward to working.
Scratch that. I was glad I had to work today, even though I was usually off on Sundays or only worked for an hour or two later in the afternoon. The work excuse was exactly what
I needed to disentangle myself from the very awkward situation I had found myself in the morning. I closed my eyes, picturing Mason’s nude body in my bed. His messy bedhead had been hot as hell and it had been so tempting to touch his hair, ruffle my hand in it and feel the curls between my fingers.
“What the hell, Adelaide?” I murmured to myself, still in disbelief I had taken the man home.
I started the coffee and flipped on the other machines. I poured myself the first of what I expected to be many cups of coffee and went into the office to get a till out of the safe. I sipped more coffee, waiting for the jolt of caffeine to hit me and help shake off the slight hangover I was dealing with. It was more about a lack of sleep than too much alcohol. The water had certainly curbed the hangover, but I was feeling a little dry.
I leaned back in my chair, sipping my coffee and letting my mind drift back to the night before. It had been a lot like a roller coaster. One minute we were fighting and arguing, and I wanted to get as far away from him as possible; and the next, we were bumping and grinding on the dance floor. Then, the cab ride home. I had no idea what came over me. It had never crossed my mind to take him up to my apartment. It just kind of happened. I had fought the urge to kiss him for hours, and when I gave in to the urge, it was all done. He took over from there. I certainly didn’t put up much of a fight. It was too good to try and fight it. I had wanted it, even if I regretted it now.
“Mason Bancroft?” I whispered his name, wondering what the hell had come over me. “Seriously, Mason Bancroft?” I said the name again, almost hoping I had been wrong, and it hadn’t really been him.
I shook it off, grabbed my till, and headed up front. I wasn’t expecting it to be a busy morning. I hoped I didn’t get a sudden rush. It was just me until ten when the church folks stopped by for their sinful cup of coffee before heading to church. Then, it was the same folks, coming to get some caffeine after sitting and listening to a boring sermon for hours. Sundays were anything if predictable.
